Cat-Like Lynians: Melynx, Felyne
Humanoid Lynians: Shakalaka, King Shakalaka

Lynians are a race of sapient creatures who are native to the land. There are currently only two known Lynian species: the cat-like species which harbor the Melynx and Felyne, and the humanoid Shakalaka. They are both "intelligent", have "complex" societies, and use a language, although the Shakalaka are more primitive and barbaric, while the cat species tend to live peacefully in democratic societies. Before they build more intensive relation with human, they seem like already have their own civilization. The Shakalaka are governed by a king or ruler, also known as King Shakalaka, identified by a BBQ Spit on top of its head, a bigger mask and has a club than a saw. Both the Felyne and Shakalaka can help human hunters

Type: Neopteron / 甲虫種

150px Neopterons: Vespoid, Queen Vespoid, Hornetaur, Great Thunderbug, Bnahabra, Altaroth
Neopterons are small insect-like monsters that usually travel in swarms. Because their shells are so brittle, they rarely drop materials when slain. Neopterons are very susceptible to poison and fire, while they hold quite a resistance to the Dragon element. Their materials are often used to make very sharp weapons.

Flying Wyverns are large, bipedal monsters that have two wings. However, there are some Wyverns that are quadrupedal, operating their wingarms as forearms instead like Tigrex and Nargacuga. These monsters have been dubbed by fans as "Pseudo Wyverns", due to some species being reminescent of certain animals such as the Nargacuga's resemblance to a black panther, Tigrex's resemblance to a Tyrannosaur, and the Barioth's resemblance to a saber toothed cat. (Pseudo meaning "False" or "Mimic") Some are flightless despite their classification as Flying Wyverns, like the Akantor and Ukanlos. These wyverns show their wyverian ancestry by the small forewings on their two front limbs. Still others are known as Cave Wyverns, (though Monster Hunter games do not classify them as different) and are named so because they spend most of their lives in caves. The Khezu, Gigginox, and their subspecies are included in this. They are known for their disgusting appearance. (i.e., leech-like mouths.) Flying Wyverns make up a large majority of the monsters in the Monster Hunter franchise.

They are also known as Beast Wyverns in the Japanese version. These creatures are known to live near any immediate food source which includes many types of minerals as well as live prey. They are also known to be very aggressive towards hunters and as a result charge blindly through their environment, knocking down many obstacles in their path. They usually have thick skulls, weak arms, and have tough hides. The first species to ever be discovered was the Barroth. They are a perfect example of how aggressive these creatures can be, having a ferocity that rivals even that of a Diablos.

Type: Elder Dragon / 古龍種

150px

Elder Dragons:

Lao-Shan Lung, Ashen Lao-Shan Lung, Kirin, Yama Tsukami, Fatalis, Crimson Fatalis, White Fatalis, Teostra, Lunastra, Kushala Daora, Rusted Kushala Daora, Chameleos, Rukodiora, Ceadeus,
Ceadeus Subspecies, Jhen Mohran, Jhen Mohran Subspecies, Alatreon, Raviente, Raviente Subspecies, Amatsumagatsuchi,
Guran-Miraosu, Myo Galuna

Elder Dragons are unique creatures that are able to live in a variety of landscapes and have a long lifespan. Although named dragons, they don't all necessarily have four legs or wings. Some may be horse-like like the Kirin, or octopus-like like the Yama Tsukami because of their unnecessary fitting into any categories of monsters. There were only 3 Elder Dragons in the original Monster Hunter (Kirin, Lao-Shan Lung and Fatalis). In Monster Hunter 2, that amount was increased to 12. Most of the added Elder Dragons are very vulnerable at their sides, leading Capcom to add something extra like the wind barrier for the Kushala.  A trait unique among Elder Dragons is that if they are injured by the hunter, they may flee to a different area. Elder Dragons are the most unique and often the most difficult to defeat. The Raviente, a new monster exclusive to Frontier, possesses features of the Lao Shan Lung, although it could be an entirely new species. The only Elder Dragons that have sub-species are Lao Shan Lung, Fatalis and Raviente. However in Monster Hunter 3 G, they added a Ceadeus Subspecies and a Jhen Mohran Subspecies. Teostra and Lunastra are not sub-species. They are both counter parts like Rathian and Rathalos
